Uyuni 3 Days Tour: from the salt flat to the colored lagoons

This Uyuni 3 Days tour combines the Uyuni Salt Flat with the high-Andean lagoons of the Sud Lípez.

Day 1 — The Threshold of the White Giant

Three days are enough to cross a country of colors: the blinding white of the Uyuni Salt Flat, the red of Laguna Colorada, and the impossible green of Laguna Verde, with a night at altitude by the Colorada where the cold bites at 4,300 m and the sky unfolds without a single artificial light to interrupt it. It all begins at 10:30 am at the Train Cemetery, among rusted 19th-century locomotives, and continues in Colchani, where salt is worked the way it’s always been. The Ojos de Sal open the white desert; lunch and the mirror-effect sunset, closed with a surprise aperitif, bring the day to an end. Dinner and night at a 3★ hotel in Uyuni.

Day 2 — The Land of Flamingos and Colored Lagoons

Departure at 7:30 am toward the Chiguana salt flat, with Ollagüe volcano in the background, and on to the Cañapa, Hedionda, Honda and Ramaditas altiplano lagoons, each with its own population of flamingos. The Siloli Desert and the Stone Tree come before reaching Laguna Colorada, stained red by sediments and microorganisms that feed the James’s flamingo. The night is spent at a high-altitude lodge — intense cold, sky with no artificial light — full board included.

Day 3 — The Earth’s Breath at Dawn

The earth is still alive beneath the altiplano: at dawn, the Sol de Mañana geysers and fumaroles prove it, before a stop at natural hot springs. The Salvador Dalí Desert gives way to Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca, at the foot of Licancabur volcano, and the return passes through the Valley of Rocks and Laguna Negra before reaching Uyuni, around 5:30 pm. Breakfast and lunch included.

A high-altitude circuit with a night at a high-altitude lodge (~4,300 m) — steady hydration is recommended, avoid alcohol on the first day, and consult your doctor if you have a history of heart or respiratory conditions. Entrance to the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve (30 Bs for nationals / 150 Bs for foreigners, ~19 USD) and to Incahuasi Island (15–30 Bs) are not included and are paid on site.
